Administration

Often thought of as everything that is not related to Field Operations (Patrol) or Investigations, the Administrative Services Division is responsible for many critical functions that are necessary for the Camden County Sheriff's Office to be an effective law enforcement agency. These functions range from the effective organization of our records section, recruiting and training new employees, internal affairs, storing of evidence and property, processing and serving arrest warrants and the operation of our Temporary Holding Facility.

Additionally, members of this division provide a myriad of services to the community, including Crime Prevention, School Services, Business Watch, Alarms, Permits, and Fingerprinting.

Chief Deputy – Col. Easterling began his career at the Camden County Sheriff’s Office when he was hired in 1974 by then Sheriff Willie Smith (father of the current sheriff). He also worked for Sheriff Jimmy Middleton during his two terms in office from 1977 to 1984. Since 1985 he has worked for current Sheriff Bill Smith.

Col. Easterling began his career as a patrol deputy and continued in the Patrol Division until 1987. He was then promoted to the position of Jail Administrator and took over command of the newly constructed Public Safety Complex. In 1990 Col. Easterling was promoted to his current position of Chief Deputy. As Chief Deputy his duties include responsibility for all administrative functions at the Sheriff’s Office.

Col. Easterling also oversees the all-volunteer Search and Rescue Division of the Sheriff’s Office. The Search and Rescue consists of nearly fifty volunteers with various areas of expertise including crime scene recovery, rappelling, rescue, EMT, firefighter, paramedic and wilderness navigation. The team also includes divers with many levels of certification including Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Blackwater Diver, Rescue Diver, Dive Master and Public Safety Diver. Col. Easterling oversees the operations of this team of dedicated volunteers.

In addition to his other responsibilities, Col. Easterling is also a U.S. Customs Officer under the Blue Lightning Program. He has received extensive training in law enforcement, management and administration. 

Commander of the Administrative Services Division - The Commander of the Administrative Services Division is directly responsible for rendering support services to agency personnel and certain administrative services to the public. Lt. Wesley Walker is the Commander of this division. He has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University and sixteen years experience in law enforcement. He has worked with the State of Georgia and other Sheriff’s Offices in Georgia to gain the experience he has in all aspects of law enforcement. He is responsible for obtaining and maintaining the Sheriff’s Office State Law Enforcement’s Certification. Lt. Walker also coordinated efforts to prepare Camden County Public Safety for the G-8 Summit in June of 2004. Lt. Walker is a member of the Georgia Police Accreditation Coalition and is on the Southeast Georgia Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Purchasing – Lt. Roger Dyals is in charge of the problematical task of keeping the patrol fleet in good working order. His job includes but is not limited to purchasing departmental vehicles and all required interior equipment such as radars, communication equipment, and lighting requirements. He has 33-years of experience in purchasing. Specialized training in negotiating, contract writing and advanced purchasing has enabled Lt. Dyals to become invaluable to CCSO.

Chief Financial Officer – Wanda Easterling has been with CCSO 18-years, she is a certified correction officer and dispatcher. Her duties include but are not limited to: Receiving, depositing, and disbursing both federal and state seized asset money, maintaining four accounts for these monies, receiving, depositing and disbursing money for cash bond account, maintain bank account for cash bonds, Receipting, depositing monies collected for warrant service, civil process, copies of various reports and maintaining bank account for these monies. Responsible for vending machines for the CCSO in Woodbine and the Substation in St Marys.

She also goes GCIC background checks, checking driver’s licenses and any other duty as assigned by the administrative staff.
