Communications Officer

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: Handles emergency law enforcement communications via radio dispatch, emergency and non-emergency telephone calls, and utilizes local/national computers. Receives, screens and monitors emergency and non-emergency calls from the public and other police/public safety agencies by radio or telephone; categorizes and prioritizes calls. Maintains communications with all parties involved in emergency situations; conveys information to/from emergency personnel, general, public, public safety agencies, utilities, businesses and other personnel within the department. Dispatches appropriate personnel to incident locations; monitors radio traffic and maintains awareness of activities. Performs all related duties as assigned.

Deputy Sheriff

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: Responsible for the protection of life and property and enforcement of laws and ordinances. The position requires considerable knowledge of modern principles and practices of law enforcement work including: knowledge of first-aid methods, ability to act reasonably without direct supervision, ability to observe situations analytically and objectively, ability to report and record situations clearly and completely, ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and a demographically diverse public, and understand this career has an element of personal danger.

Jailer

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: Responsible for safeguarding life and property within detention facilities, deters and suppresses violations of laws within the facility and ensures rules are followed. Monitors and surveils inmates, performs inspections to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and agency standards. Prepares legal documentation and reports, processes fingerprints and pictures to ensure inmate identification, executes emergency plans, resolves disputes and performs necessary restraint techniques.
