 It has been an honor and privilege serving as your sheriff since 1986, a duty which lets me appreciate the lessons I've learned from family and friends, especially as everyone who lives in Camden County faces the challenges of a new modern era. Aside from public safety, I believe we must consider all issues which impact the quality of life in our community.
The very nature of our world has changed the nature of law enforcement. Our department has always strived to attain the highest professional standards while remaining accessible and helpful to everyone in our community. This has not been an easy task, but with your support, we have implemented a range of comprehensive services beyond those offered by many Georgia departments, including patrol, criminal investigation, detention and court services.
All of these improvements have been expensive, but we've always believed criminals should be made to pay for their efforts whenever possible, and we have developed one of the most sophisticated and successful drug interdiction programs in America. Millions of dollars of seized assets, all carefully accounted for by the United States Treasury, have paid for the lion's share of our capital improvement, vehicles, communications equipment, training and special services.
