CAPTAIN LARRY BRUCE

Captain Larry Bruce was born and raised in Camden County and graduated from Camden County High School in 1972. He began his career in law enforcement in 1977 as a patrol officer with the Brunswick Police Department (BPD). Captain. Bruce retired from the BPD in June 2010 and started with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office in September 2010. On January 2, 2013 he was promoted to Patrol Commander by Sheriff Jim Proctor.

In his thirty-three years with the BPD he held numerous positions including: Sergeant of Public Affairs, Lieutenant of Internal Affairs, Commander of the Criminal Investigative Section, Commander of the Administrative Division, Commander of the Field Service Division. He retired in July of 2010 with the rank of Captain as the Commander of the Professional Services Division. Capt. Bruce was the BPD Officer of the Year in 1978 and 1979.

Captain Bruce holds a BS in Criminal Justice from Armstrong Atlantic University in Savannah, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
