SCHOOL RESOURCE DEPUTIES

Lt. Kissler Knight is the supervisor of the School Resource Deputies Program.

The Deputies assigned to the Camden County School System provide a safe environment for the students and employees of the Board of Education. The Supervisor and five Deputies, rotate among the high school, and the numerous elementary and middle schools within the County.

Mission Statement
To provide an educational program for Georgia’s youth, which provides guidance, and the skills, ability and knowledge to be safe, healthy, and happy, in preparation for a successful life.

Today’s students face dangers older generations could not have imagined. Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety (C.H.A.M.P.S.) was founded in 2003 by the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association to address these urgent challenges.

SRD SUPERVISOR

Former CCSO Deputy Brittany Barnes instructs the students at Camden Middle School and St. Marys Middle School. This week a special program was presented to the students regarding impaired driving.

The program has the student put on goggles that when walking or operating a golf cart allows them to experience their lack of physical motor skills. It was quite interesting observing the students as they attempted to complete physical skills.

The students realized they were unable to complete simple task while wearing the goggles. It was a very important lesson that they learned today.
